Home Theater Installation
Immersive Entertainment, Designed Around Your Room
A home theater is not a set of boxes, it is a room that has been measured. We start with the seating distance, because that decides the screen size, and the screen size decides everything else: where the speakers go, how much light the room can tolerate, and whether a projector or a large flat panel is the right call. Then we plan the wiring so that none of it is visible once the job is finished.
Frederick MD Home Theater Installation Challenges
Around Frederick County most of our theater work happens in finished basements. The newer developments in Urbana and Ballenger Creek usually have the ceiling height and the natural isolation a cinema room wants, so we can hardwire everything and cut in ceiling speakers. Older properties in downtown Frederick are a different job — plaster over lath, no cavity to fish cable through — so we plan every run before anything is opened up.
What We Offer
Whether you want a dedicated cinema room or a living room that does the job properly, the work is the same: measure, design, wire, install, calibrate, and show you how to use it before we leave.
Dedicated Home Theater Design
A purpose-built room, planned outward from the seating position. Screen or projector sized to the throw distance, speaker placement mapped to the seats, riser and seating layout, and acoustic treatment where the room actually needs it.
Media Rooms and Living Room Systems
Not every house has a spare room. We build systems into living rooms and open-plan spaces where the TV has to look good switched off, using in-wall and in-ceiling speakers and a screen sized for a room with daylight in it.
Surround Sound Installation and Calibration
5.1, 7.1 and Dolby Atmos layouts, with in-ceiling height channels where the ceiling allows. We calibrate to the room afterwards, because speakers that have never been measured in place do not sound the way they should.
Smart Control and Lighting Integration
One remote or one app for the screen, the sound, the lights and the shades. Press Watch and the lights dim, the shades close and the projector starts — the way it should have worked out of the box.
Mounting a flat panel instead of a projector? Our guide to fixed, tilting and full-motion TV wall mounts covers which bracket suits which room.
Choose Us
Why Choose Nerical, LLC for Home Theater Installation?
We have been building home theaters across Frederick County since 2010, and a good number of our customers have had us back to build a second room.
The Room Is Planned Before Anything Is Ordered
We measure the seating distance, the ceiling height and the light before specifying a single component. Equipment bought for the wrong room is the most expensive mistake in this trade, and it is entirely avoidable.
Equipment Matched to the Room
We work across the major projector, screen and speaker brands rather than pushing one line at everybody. If you already have a preference we will build around it, and tell you honestly whether it suits the room you have.
Wiring Hidden, Walls Made Good
Speaker runs fished through finished ceilings rather than cut open. Power relocated behind the screen. Spare conduit left in place for the upgrade you will want in five years. Dust cleared before we leave.
One Remote, Not Five
We program the control so the whole room responds to a single button. No stack of remotes on the arm of the sofa, and no explaining to guests which input to select.
Local Support, and Customers Who Come Back
We are in Frederick, so when you want the calibration adjusted or a new console added it is a phone call and a short drive. Several customers have had us build a second theater when they moved.
What Home Theater Installation Costs in Frederick, MD
Most of what we build falls into three bands. These are real Frederick County project ranges rather than a price list — the quote comes after we have seen the room, and it is fixed. If you only want surround sound added to a TV you already own, that is usually $250 to $1,350 on its own.
Living Room or Media Room — $2,000 to $6,000
A large flat panel or a modest projector, a soundbar or a 5.1 speaker package, hidden wiring and smart control. Usually one to two days on site.
Dedicated Home Theater — $6,000 to $15,000
The band most Frederick projects land in. Projector and fixed screen, 5.1 or 7.1 surround using in-wall or in-ceiling speakers, an equipment rack in the utility space, lighting control and full calibration.
High-End Custom Cinema — $25,000 and up
Tiered seating, Dolby Atmos with ceiling height channels, acoustic treatment and room correction, motorized masking screens and a fully integrated control system.
What Changes the Price
Whether the ceiling is already finished, how far the rack sits from the screen, whether the room needs new circuits, the screen size, and how many height channels the ceiling will take. We tell you which of these apply on the first visit.

FAQS
Home Theater Installation Questions
The questions we get asked most often before a first visit.
How much does a home theater cost in Frederick, MD?
Most Frederick County home theater projects run between $6,000 and $15,000. A living room or media room system starts around $2,000, and a high-end dedicated cinema with tiered seating and Dolby Atmos can reach $25,000 or more. Adding surround sound to a TV you already own is usually $250 to $1,350 on its own. We quote a fixed price after the design visit.
Should I get a projector or a large TV?
It depends on how much light the room has and how far back you sit. A basement room where you can control the light suits a projector, and you get a far bigger image for the money. A bright living room with windows is better served by a large flat panel. We measure the room and tell you which one will actually look good in it rather than guessing.
Can you build a home theater in my basement?
Basements are the single most common home theater room we build in Frederick County. Ceiling height is the first thing to check — you need enough clearance for in-ceiling speakers, and more again if you want Atmos height channels. We check that on the first visit before anything is specified.
Do I need to soundproof the room?
Full soundproofing is rarely necessary in a basement, because the structure already does most of the work. What matters more is acoustic treatment inside the room, controlling reflections so dialogue stays clear at volume. We will tell you honestly whether your room needs treatment or whether it is fine as it is.
Will it work with the equipment I already have?
Usually, yes. If you already own an amplifier, speakers or a projector we will build around them where they suit the room, and tell you plainly where a component is holding the rest of the system back. We would rather integrate what you own than replace it for the sake of it.
