A new build in Monrovia where we were brought in at framing, which is the right time and almost never when it happens. We laid out the load schedule room by room with the owners before any cable was pulled, ran everything back to a panel in the mechanical room, and put keypads at the front door, the garage entry, the primary bedroom and the top of the stairs. Shades went on the west elevation on the same system. The Away button on the garage keypad now takes the whole house down on the way out.
A 1960s House, Nothing Opened Up
A property in Braddock Heights with plaster walls, no neutral wire in any switch box on the ground floor, and owners who were not going to accept holes in the hallway. Lutron Caseta throughout, because those dimmers work without a neutral and the system is wireless end to end. Where a keypad could not be wired we mounted Pico remotes on the wall in matching plates, which look like keypads and needed no box at all. Two days, no drywall repair.
Two Apps That Had Never Met
A house in Thurmont where a window company had fitted motorized shades on their own app three years earlier, and smart lighting had been added afterwards on a different one. Neither could see the other, so an evening setting meant picking up the phone twice. Can lighting and shading control be retrofitted into an older house?

Depending on the motors, they can be brought onto the lighting platform directly or bridged onto it, so one keypad button moves the lights and the shades together. We check what motors you have before quoting, because that determines which of the two it is.
